People have always loved to decorate themselves and their surroundings.  During colonial times, in order to have leaves embroidered on your gown or flowers embroidered on your armchair, each stitch had to be done by hand.  The time required to do this meant that these were treasured items.  But even in a world of readily available machine-embroidered goods a hand embroidered item can still be a treasure!  Come to the Plantation on February 24th from 9:30-12:00 to learn the basics of an embroidery technique called crewel work.  We will practice some basic stitches on scrap fabric and then start on a piece that you will take home to finish that could be turned into a pincushion, a needle case, or something else of your own creation. Ages 12 and up please.  Member fee is $25.00, $30.00 for non-members. Check out our website at www.colonialplantation.org to view membership levels and benefits throughout the year!

This workshop will be held at the Colonial Plantation; please use GPS address 3900 North Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Workshop will be held indoors, but dress in warm, comfortable layers. Fingerless gloves recommended. Snow date will be the following Saturday, March 3rd.
