When we think of quilting we tend to think of the piecework quilts common to the 19th and 20th centuries, but in the 18th century whole-cloth quilting was a common technique used particularly for cold weather clothing. In this class you will learn basic quilting techniques and will use common 18th century materials to create a potholder or trivet. You will also have a chance to see examples of reproduction quilted clothing as well as photographs of original 18th century quilted clothing.

Workshop will be held at the Colonial Plantation.  In the case of exceptionally cold or inclement weather, workshop may be moved to the Ridley Creek State Park mansion building nearby.
