In the 18th century printed cottons from India were shipped all across the British empire.  Indian artisans used hand-carved wooden blocks to achieve everything from simple and elegant designs to breathtakingly complex patterns!  These fabrics were used to make clothing, housewares, and even wallpaper in more recent times.

In this class, participants will be use a variety of modern wooden blocks to print with acrylic paint on a cotton scarf.  Wear the scarf, hang it as a decorative piece, or use it as a table runner--the choice is yours!  Examples of antique wooden blocks and examples of block printed fabrics will be available for examination.

The fees for this class are $30.00 for members, $35.00 for nonmembers, and include the scarf to take home with you.  Participation is limited to ten people, ages 10+ only.

Workshop will be held at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation.  Please use GPS address 3900 North Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square, PA 19073.  In the event of bitter or inclement weather, this workshop may be moved to another nearby location.  Class registration is non-refundable unless the Plantation cancels the class.
