Spend an evening in the air at the Colonial Plantation!  The first untethered manned hot air balloon flight was on November 21, 1783, in Paris, France, in a balloon created by the Montgolfier brothers. Inspired by that achievement, an American innkeeper named Peter Carnes—without any knowledge of ballooning, and based only on newspaper descriptions—built his own hot air balloon. On July 19, 1784, he launched his balloon at the Walnut Street Prison in Philadelphia. On Friday, July 19, 2019, we will honor Peter Carnes and his French predecessors with Soaring at Sunset.

General Admission tickets include tours of the c. 1720 farmhouse, farm animal meet and greets, historical demonstrations, children's games and crafts, and live music on our concert stage.  Our wine and beer garden features libations for purchase from Locust Lane Brewery and Grace Winery, and food trucks will have mouthwatering entrees and desserts.  Guests may purchase an additional ticket to soar high above Ridley Creek State Park in a tethered hot air balloon, provided by Air Ventures (weather permitting.)

We encourage our guests to bring chairs and blankets, but please support our food vendors by NOT bringing outside food.  Water is fine to bring with you. NO PETS.

Guests should use GPS address 3900 North Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square, PA 19073.  Plentiful free parking is available.
