In the 18th century, floorcloths were a popular choice to protect floors and brighten a room. They were created using oil paint on heavy linen canvas, and then sealed. The designs were often geometric or floral, and could be quite beautiful and complicated.  In this class you will have the opportunity to design and paint a 10 x 32" table runner. Due to the limited time, all pieces will have a base color of off white over which you will put your designs. There will be a number of pictures of 18th century designs as well as stencils that you can use. If you have a stencil that you would like to use, feel free to bring it with you to class.  You will also be provided with a container of sealant to seal your piece at home when it is fully dry.

Tickets are $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Ages 12 and up only; limit of 10 participants. Workshop will be held rain or shine; tickets are non-refundable. Beverages will be provided, but feel free to bring a lunch with you.

Workshop will be held at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation. Please use GPS address 3900 North Sandy Flash Drive, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
